Interplay between Reliability & Security
Seems like a good mesh…
- Many security protocols rely on a ‘friendly’ environment (reliable multicast, FIFO channels, no more than ‘one’ event occurs at a time).
- Group communication systems provide a robust set of semantics that allow applications to control their dependence on dynamic environments with faults.
So …
- We want to preserve all of the ‘robust’ properties of group communication while adding security.
But…
- We have to be careful not to amplify latency and computation costs.
- The devil is in the details - security protocols usually are not robust.
