Romanian Resources
|
|
Here you will find some of my links about Romania
trying to cover some of the more interesting and beautiful aspects of the
country, along with the more useful information sites for romanians.
|
| Come to
Romania |
|
Under this section you will find an amalgam of
links providing a glimpse into the Romanian culture and into the touristic
opportunities that Romania offers.
| Romanian Voice |
Maybe my choice for the first link is a bit surprising in
this category, but the Romanian Voice page really delivers what it
claims: "A cultural insight on Romania". It is one of my favourite
romanian sites containing over 1000 Romanian poems and other literary
works, a very nice photo section introducing in images all the
major Romanian cities and also a web directory if you want to
continue exploring the Romanian virtual universe.
|
| In Your
Pocket |
Whatever the
reason you
decided to come to Romania for, InYourPocket provides you the ultimate
tourist's guide to the most important parts of the country. From
means of transportation to affordable lodging, from dining places and
nightlife to museums and scenic places that must not be missed, this
site has it all! This is also my source of information when I plan
to visit a city I haven't been to, or when I'm looking for a new
place to hang out with my friends. Need I say more? Yes - the site
has the same kind of information for all Central and East European
countries!
|
| Welcome to
Romania |
This is a very good site to give you
general information about Romania (some geography, history, culture,
etc.). Personally, I like their tourism section which, among other
things, gives good details about major towns and spas in the
country, all with plenty of photos and relevant links. Another good
starting point.
|
Romanian
Festivals and Traditions |
Yet another perspective into the Romanian
spirituality. |
| roTravel.com |
This
is a site that promotes tourism in Romania. The site partners with the
most important travel agencies in Romania and provides good background
for the places they recommend visiting.
|
| romania.org |
iRomania is
definitely not the "most advanced web site covering Romania" as its
authors claim. However it has a comprehensive Links section
which I didn't have time to explore thoroughly, but which promises
some good pointers. Also check the embassy
section to find the location of the Romanian
embassy in your country.

| The
Carpathians |
|
If you're still looking for
a reason to visit Romania then this is my last (but strongest) attempt. If you love nature, in general,
and mountains, in particular, Romania's mountains can offer you an entirely unique experience.
The Carpathians wilderness and majesty plentifully makes up for their
apparently small height (highest peak: Moldoveanu 2544m). Take a look
at the following sites to see beautiful photos, read the
stories behind them and find some of the necessary info to plan your
hiking trip.
| Alpine.T |
Alpinet quickly grew to become the ultimate
resource in information on Romanian
mountains. Unfortunately the information is available only in
Romanian, but their most visited section, the photo area, needs no
words to convey its message. |
|
Werner Hintze's mountain pages
|
Werner Hintze is a passionate mountaineer
who climbed mountains in several parts of the world. However, since
he discovered the Romanian mountains, he could not escape their
attraction and keeps coming back each year for more adventures. Read
his beautiful stories (in Romanian or German) accompanied by photos from his
expeditions. |
| Carpathian
Mountains |
This single web page is a good starting
point to find some info about the Carpathians and have a first
look at their beauty. |
| Hiking
in the Carpathians |
Catalin Popescu's hiking page is one of the
most beautiful efforts on the topic, containing photos and maps of
the most important massifs in Romania.
|
| Romanian
Carpathians |
Information and maps. |
| Maps |
Good scans of Carpathians maps.
|
| Cotzo's
Photo Gallery |
More photos.

| Romanian
Resources |
These resources are of interest
mostly to romanians. Most of them are in Romanian only.
| ziare.com |
All Romanian mass-media online resources are
linked from this site (newspapers, tv stations, radio stations, etc). |
| panda.ro |
A guide for prices, services and
entertainment for Bucharest. Check out their "go out" section to
find out what movies are playing or what plays the major
theatres show, as well as discover new cafes, restaurants, etc. The
tourism section will give you a comprehensive list of offers and
contact information from travel agencies, bus companies, etc. |
| Romania
Online |
News, TV programs (for all stations), cinema
schedules, horroscope, weather report, currency exchange, etc, etc.
If you only care about the tv schedule you can go to tv.rol.ro, or for
the cinema schedule use cinema.rol.ro |
| Divertis |
Divertis |
| Sapte Seri |
The site is under construction for now, but
I hope it will be up soon with all the information about places to go out
in Bucharest. |
| Fotbal.net |
Romanian soccer |
| Romanian Portal |
The Bans site is a very good resource for
romanians outside Romania. Here you can also find the pages of RomUniv (The Romanian
University Graduates Database) |
| Top
100 |
Finally, you can check the most popular
romanian web pages sorted by various categories and hopefully find
what you were looking for. |
