Interpreting the Numeric Results
‘By execution’ and ‘by job’ results differ as follows. The average slowdown by execution gives each scenario equal weight. A scenario with very few jobs makes the same contribution to the average as a scenario with many jobs.
Average slowdown by job averages over all jobs in all scenarios. This measure has less utility. It gives little weight to the performance of the various strategies when the system is lightly loaded.
The numbers quoted heretofore are averaged by execution.
