  • In the following charts, each point represents one execution of the simulation (not one job!)
  • The X axis is the average slowdown for a standard method -- round-robin, PVM’s strategy.
  • The Y axis is the average slowdown for our method -- the Enhanced PVM Strategy.
  • We want lower Y values than X values!

Later in the presentation, similar charts will compare different standard methods against the Enhanced PVM Strategy (or a variant thereof.)

In particular, when we discuss dynamic strategies, where jobs can move from one machine to another, we will compare the Enhanced PVM Strategy against some very strong dynamic strategies.
