The Simulation Test Bed

• We compared four strategies:

  • The PVM Strategy, assigning jobs round-robin without reassignment;
  • The Enhanced PVM Strategy, assigning jobs to greedily minimize cost;
  • The Mosix Strategy, balancing system load while using time-tested heuristics to prevent memory overuse; and
  • The Enhanced Mosix Strategy, assigning and reassigning jobs to greedily minimize cost.
